Champion needed to re-establish itself as a brand and social media had the potential to play a key role in making this happen. Despite a lightweight budget, we were able to target a very specific audience and help tell the new Champion story.
Champion is an iconic sports apparel brand that enjoyed great success in the 1990’s, especially around its sweats and basketball ranges. In recent times, the focus of the brand has changed and women’s performance gear has taken centre stage.
Communicating this change, without losing the legacy was always going to be a challenge. This was compounded by the ability of the brand to invest in marketing activity on a local level.
We were tasked with developing a lightweight social media and content program that could re-introduce the brand and support selected retail outlets.
We followed our proven audit-strategy-roll out methodology to develop a framework that could give the brand the visibility it required. We also kept an eye on the future as the brand’s e-commerce site was in development and would eventually be the location all traffic would be driven to.
Our content strategy centred on putting the target audience first and creating experiences that linked Champion with peak performance. This approach came to life on Facebook and Instagram, and specially crafted visuals played the starring role.
Champion’s social media presence continues to evolve and the foundations we put in place have set the brand up for long term success.
