TikTok adds auto-replies for business accounts

TikTok business accounts now have the ability to create welcome messages and auto-replies which pick up keywords in messages. The new function aims to help businesses maintain connection without compromising on efficiency. The new feature is available under ‘message settings’ in Business Suite tools.

Instagram adds new tools to protect younger users

Instagram is upping its efforts to stamp out predatory behaviour in its app. Adults will now be restricted from messaging any users under the age of 18 who don’t follow them. Other warning features including “alert prompts within message threats” are being rolled out which will caution younger users in conversations with adults they’re already connected to.

Facebook shares details of its new newsletter platform

Facebook’s newsletter platform will offer creators a free self-publishing tool, encompassing a portfolio of style and layout options, and various ways to distribute and present the content. Given Facebook’s potential reach, the new feature could help creators expand their audience, engage in different ways, and generate more revenue from their content.

Pinterest expands skin tone search qualifiers to more regions

Skin tone search qualifiers were first introduced back in 2019. They allow users to select their skin tone so Pinterest can highlight more relevant search results, specifically in beauty-related searches. The tool is now expanding to 13 new regions including France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Indonesia and Mexico.

Twitter’s working on a dedicated tab for spaces

More news on Twitter’s Spaces this week. Expanding on its long-established four-tab set-up, the platform is testing a dedicated tab for Spaces. The aim of the new dedicated tab would be to improve the discovery of Spaces and draw attention to conversations that are already in progress.
